Information You Choose to Send
Terms Entered in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Erie County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider receives the query under its own privacy terms and may process it outside this site's control.
Messages Sent to the Site
If you email us or submit a contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share the message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Do not send sensitive jail, medical, financial, or identity documents through a general contact message.
Routine Technical Information
Like most websites, this site receives basic technical details when a page loads. These records help operate and protect the service and show how visitors use it. The information may include:
- The Internet Protocol address used for the request
- The browser name and version
- The device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Browser Controls
Cookies help measure visits and understand how readers move through the site. You can block or remove cookies through browser settings. Some functions may behave differently or may not work as expected when cookies are disabled.
Reasons Information Is Used
- Maintain reliable and efficient site operation
- Send search requests to the selected partner service
- Understand which Erie County resource pages visitors use
- Diagnose errors, abuse, and other technical problems
- Present advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to Erie County Corrections, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, court portals, release resources, federal locators, or outside search tools. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy governs its collection and use of information. Review those terms before submitting a name, identifier, payment detail, or message.
Some advertising partners may use their own technology to recognize activity across multiple websites and select interest-based ads. That tracking occurs on the partner's systems, not in a record maintained directly by Erie County Released Inmates.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be provided to parties that perform or support specific site functions, including:
- Search partners that process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure site activity
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security Measures
We use ordinary administrative and technical practices intended to protect information. No website, network, storage system, or internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or a security incident will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted personal data, use the Get in Touch page to request its deletion.
Choices About Personal Data
- Ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of information that is wrong
- Ask that qualifying information be erased
- Opt out of certain processing where that right applies
Rights can depend on the law and the type of data involved. A request may require enough information to verify identity and locate the relevant message or record. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, Act 3 of 2008, governs requests made to public agencies, but it does not convert this private site into a government records custodian.
Revisions to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as practices, services, or legal requirements change. An updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after posting means the revised notice applies to later activity.
